SAP-180HP Gas Engine

SAP-180HP™ High Performance Gasoline Engine (Coming soon to a field near you!)

Engine Weight (less ignition, but including muffler): 31.28 ounces (887 grams)

Total Engine Weight w CDI and Mount: 38.18 ounces: (1082 grams)

Static Thrust:  18.9 lbs (w/18x6 Xoar Prop and engine installed in Funtana 100X™ on the ground at 78 F degrees at 800 ft ASL turning at 9050 rpm)

The SAP-180HP™.  Reliable. Compact. Lightweight. Powerful. Smooth.
Although specifically designed for the rigors of 3D flying, it will work extremely well in your 1.00 – 1.50 or (larger) sized sport aircraft, warbird, or scale model.  Not just another “converted” gas engine, the SAP-180HP™ is designed from the ground up as a serious RC airplane engine without the typical compromises that have to be made using off-the-shelf weedwacker engine parts.  Using the latest in CAD, CAM, CAE, and CNC machine tools, the SAP-180HP™  has been painstakingly engineered and optimized in all areas possible…all this translates to the priceless smile when punching out of a hover or making a high-speed pass with a beautiful scale warbird.

Want more “punch-out” from your sport or 3D 1.00 - 1.20 size plane?  With more power and an all up weight equal to or less than almost any glow engine in its class, the SAP-180HP™ smoothly gives 18.9 lbs of static thrust with a Xoar 18 x 6 prop at 9050 rpm after 1.5 gallons of break-in. This is stock, “out-of-the-box” performance with its included Vari-Tune™ Pitts style muffler (rear mounted – downward facing dual outlet), measured in a typical 1.00 size ARF, (Funtana 100X) on asphalt.  Our performance measurements are not done on some fancy test stand with big dollar tuned pipes designed to give inflated egos.

Crisp throttle response, big horsepower, reliability, inexpensive fuel and all the nice things that go along with running pump gasoline are what you will get with the SAP-180HP™.

Did we forget to mention the size? With an overall engine width of less than 3¼” (82.5mm) you will have no problem installing it in virtually any airplane, even narrow-cowled warbirds.  The SAP-180HP™ will easily fit into the Funtana 100X and most 1.00-1.20 and larger RC ARF’s today, and is a direct “bolt-in” to the AeroWorks™ Yak 1.2.

Scale and Warbird pilots will love the sound and finally be without the painful, unsightly cuts in the sides of their narrow cowls.

With the SAP-180HP™ you'll find yourself quickly running out of excuses to go gas!   A reliable Walbro pumped and regulated carb means you’re free to put your tank on the CG (or anywhere you want).  There is also no hassle of fuel/air mixture change from horizontal to vertical flight or from the beginning to the end of the flight (as with most glow engines).  And with a fuel consumption rate of 12 ounces during a 15 minute, 3D flying session, you won't need to carry as much fuel on board as with a glow engine for the same duration flight.

Give your glow driver and roll of paper towels to the less fortunate!  Put an SAP-180HP™ gasser in your next 1.00 - 1.50 ARF and start experiencing the clean, reliable, and inexpensive power of gasoline.

The SAP-180HP™ comes complete with lightweight SAP Aluminum Alloy Engine Mounts (1.3 oz. Each), Matched Rear Mount Vari-Tune™ Pitts Style Muffler, and Electronic Ignition.  Of course, to go along with a quality engine like this, all our engines are sequentially serialized for obvious QC purposes.

Syssa Aircraft Performance is not associated with Aeroworks™, Hanger 9™ or any other ARF manufacturer.

Performance seeking aero-modelers soon will say “no to glow” for a worldwide street price of $429 USD.
